I took this photograph in a Kyoto temple. The inspiration came from M. C. Escher's painting, Three Worlds. It was used in creating the cover for my first book.

The rest of that quote from Lashley is not really relevant to how (I think) the brain works, but I could not resist the beauty of the simile.
